Cracklins: ˈkra-kləns. noun.
the weird stuff at the bottom
of a deep fat fryer.

This is the super bowl pitch that died in the client’s tears of laughter that it was ‘too weird’, one-offs, and things that had my heart, but never saw the light of day.

Rocket Mortgage
Super Bowl Pitch
2021

It all began with a dream. The dream of working with Dolly Parton to sell mortgages during the largest sporting event in the US. It was a dream too beautiful to live.

My team of three also had a script involving a Sims talking to her friend Ellie Kemper and Ellie’s roommates, Swedish Chef and Ozzy Osborne, that made it even closer to the sun. But what can I say? The heart wants what the heart wants. And mine wants to make Dolly Parton an ineffective genie.

Exit Strategy
2016

Design and illustration

Exit Strategy Brewing is located in Forest Park, IL home to a large cemetery population and more corpses than people. When it came time to design a poster for their IPA ‘Posthumulus’ (a combination of posthumous and the Latin name for hops) who better to take up the task than an IPA loving, home-brewing art director with a passion for free samples.

Combined branding logo 2015

You never forget your first. This was the first logo I ever sold in: combining the existing Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum logo (which *ahem* I didn't make) with a public-facing representation for the Chicago Academy of Sciences. The Chicago Academy of Sciences wanted to combine their official seal and the PNNM logo. I made this design to convince them there was a better way

Mic Ultra
2020

The beer team needed a hand. I discovered I love designing neon signs.

How to make a face mask

I know you have your choice of hastily made, beginning-of-COVID mask tutorials. But mine has ragtime music and Toad the Wet Sprocket t-shirt. Help out friends neighbors and get a reminder that 90’s SoCal rock was a thing. Also, I designed that rose print fabric from the video to use in my dirndl for a trip to Munich for Oktoberfest in 2016. Do you want to see the dirndl I made? I knew it. Scroll down, please.

Sometimes I get asked if I can draw. Kinda?

Some fun illustrations I made for training materials for a personality-based method of selling real estate.
